Is there actually a career path in the firearm industry?
Most people think the firearm industry is only for gunsmiths, firearm instructors, or gunshop owners.
But the industry is much bigger than that.
There are careers in firearm retail, sales, product advising, hunting outfitters, shooting sports, range operations, distribution, manufacturing, training, compliance, and industry management.
One thing I’ve noticed is that there are very few structured training options for people who want to build professional knowledge of the firearm industry itself.
That’s why the Gundemy was built — an online firearms education platform focused on helping people develop industry knowledge and professional credibility.
Some of our career-focused certifications include:
• Certified Firearms Knowledge Certificate (CFKC) – Foundation firearm knowledge
• Certified Firearms Retail Professional (CFRP) – For firearm retail staff and gunshop employees
• Certified Firearms Sales Specialist (CFSS) – Customer advisory, optics, calibers and firearm selection
• Certified Firearms Industry Professional (CFIP) – Industry structure, markets and operations
• Master Firearms Industry Professional (MFIP) – Advanced industry-level certification
I’m curious:
If someone wanted to start a career in the firearm industry today, what role would you recommend and why?
Would you start in retail, training, hunting, shooting sports, manufacturing, or somewhere else?
Interested to hear where people think the biggest opportunities are over the next 5–10 years.
